Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of heroes who will separate from the central cast to begin their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might seem out of place, but the events of the latest installment show why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his own means, invading the secret base, striking Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their position as key figures in the influential clan could help the group enter locations they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
